I was born and raised in the college town of Tuscaloosa, AL, and endured sticking out like a sore thumb till high school. Luckily enough, that was a place where nerdy kids like me ended up. Afterwards, with a fantastic boarding school experience behind me, I headed for Columbia University in New York City to study Computer Science.
In 2002, post-graduation, I stayed in New York and began work as a fledgling developer for Spa Finder, a luxury spa and travel magazine. I began to feel the onset of a quarter-life crisis and the need for creativity in my daily life, so I started exploring various outlets – travel, writing workshops, painting classes, and Shaolin kung fu, to name a few.
Needing a professional challenge, I became employed at New York University as a software engineer. During this time I was able to earn a Masters in Art in Media from NYU Steinhardt, with a concentration in photography and printmaking. For the next couple years I tried my hand at being a fine artist and even showcased my work at a few galleries.
Soon enough restlessness settled in. I wanted more ownership and creativity in my career. So, I combined my design and development skills, a desire to collaborate more closely with clients, and my ability to consult technologically in one package. This venture really began in earnest in May 2009 when I moved to lovely Austin, TX. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to have clients who are located domestically and internationally, and whose industries range from education, the fine arts, design, and travel and wellness.
When I’m not building online identities, you can find me eating and crafting, knitting, and traveling as much as possible. I currently live with my amazingly awesome husband and our black-and-white cat.
